In 2019 Dr Wyatt opened the NPA Annual conference with an excellent presentation on Trauma Informed Care. Dr Wyatt returns to our conference this year to continue our journey of becoming more trauma informed as we support the people and families who are our clients. In this presentation she will provide examples and facilitate dialogue regarding how to apply Trauma Informed Care principles to our daily work interactions. Dr Wyatt will focus on the signs that someone is feeling triggered or viewing a situation through a prior trauma. Together, we will explore strategies to process our own reaction, support the person and remain focused on the goal(s). Her facilitated discussion will allow participants to apply principles to real life situations with a goal of becoming more aware of those we support and also our own reactions. This awareness leads to better strategy development and building on our ability to deliver trauma informed care.
